rsrc Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 Hi, I am trying to create a form view layout with a top and left section that remain in place when users scroll through the form. I have the top information in a header part but I guess this is irrelevant when I am in form view... Can I create background objects or groups that will be static when the rest of the form scrolls? Thanks for any suggestions! rori
Lee Smith Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 (edited) Hi rsrc, and Welcome to the Forum, Check out the options for each view. It sounds like you either need to create a List View (from scratch), or choose the options for Table View (in Layout Mode) for viewing the header and/or footers. rsrc Posted September 16, 2010 Author Posted September 16, 2010 Thanks Lee, The list view helps for the top section. I have a menu though that is supposed to go on the left and remain in place - can I alter the position dynamically to keep it in place or is there a type of object which can cut through the parts of the layout to remain static? Thanks r
lawaid Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 Like a "sidebar" ?.. I wish there was a way, but unfortunately, no.
Lee Smith Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 Hi r, I'm not sure I'm following what you want. Perhaps you can attach a screen shot, a copy of the file, or a mockup file that can demostrate what you mean, along with a description of what you want to have happen. There is no way to keep some items stationary on the left side of a List View or table view, like you can with the Form View. However, have you investigated Related Records, and Portals? Lee
rsrc Posted September 16, 2010 Author Posted September 16, 2010 Hi, Yes, essentially I want to create a sort of sidebar. It sounds like I will need to create an alternate solution. Thanks for your replies! r
Vaughan Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 No a sidebar cannot be done in list view. The closest that can be done is to have a top- or bottom-bar in the header or footer respectively, or use a form view and display the listed records in a portal. The last suggestion is probably the best but it can get a bit tricky in multi-user due to record locking.
Lee Smith Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Hi vaughan, or use a form view and display the listed records in a portal. There is no way to keep some items stationary on the left side of a List View or table view, like you can with the Form View. However, have you investigated Related Records, and Portals? Seems like we are on the same page. LOL Lee
rsrc Posted September 17, 2010 Author Posted September 17, 2010 Thanks to you both for your suggestions!
