Darren Emery Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 Hello All - I have been asked to begin to take over some of the admin responsibility for our office regarding Filemaker beyond my current comfort level. I've been an end user for 10 years+ and pretty well up to speed on the design of the files themselves, but a complete entry level noob on the server side. Any suggestions for a guide/manual to get a good handle on the basics? I didn't really find much at filemaker, and I've always preferred the third party books (FM pro 9 Bible by Cologon is my current favorite) Thanks in advance for any suggestions! Darrren
Matthew F Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 I would definitely start with the Filemaker manuals. They are available online at Filemaker's website: Filemaker Manuals
Steven H. Blackwell Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 There are several white papers on the FMI web site dealing with FileMaker Server. Additionally, there are the excellent video tutorials done by Wim Decorte found here on VTC. Finally John Mark Osborne and I do offer official FileMaker FTS training on FileMaker Server as noted here. Your employer should not assign you such a significant task without providing supporting resources. FileMaker Server is not FileMaker Pro. It is a very different product. Steven
