I want to track my gold account. I need some calculations that will do the following. I am not an accountant.

I want to track my debit/credit and leverage.

The fields I am working with are,

Debit, Credit, Deposit, Leverage amount, Purchased, and Quantity, Credit balance due, Total Market Value. Excess Equity, Total Account Value, Annual Percentage Rate.

I am able to do the math on paper but not able to create the calculation in filemaker.

You did not state what it is that you are trying to calculate. Is there a specific formula? You stated that you want to "track my debit/credit and leverage", but those fields you also list as being in your table already.

Math calculations are very straight forward if you are using a set of fields on a single record as input. The hard part is if you are trying to track running sums, or cash balances over multiple records.

I am trying to express algebraic expressions in a calculation.

This is most likely a better idea of what it is I want to do. Is there some plugin I need to install.

Can I create it VIA "C" and some how import it over to FMP ?
