count total of same fields

I have a set of records - say 5 (see example below)

Field

xxxx

xxxx

yyyy

yyyy

zzz

Id like to get the number of same fields. In the example above the answer is 3. (xxxx, yyyy and zzz)

I'd like the answer in a calculation but can't work it out. All help appreciated!!
