Elkpodemiami Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 I've been looking for this answer all over the forum and i wasn't able to find it, if it is answer previously I'm sorry, my question is very simple, how many characters are allowed in Filemaker 11 for a relationship? For example in Filemaker 6 there is a limit of 20 characters, after that it will give you the same result. If someone knows I would be very appreciated. Thanks in advance, Lucas.
Fenton Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 I don't know what the newer versions support; maybe someone does. But it was 20 continuous non-space characters, for a total of about 108. So adding spaces could extend it way past 20.
comment Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 (edited) AFAIK, in Filemaker 7 and higher the index limit is 109 (officially:100) characters per word or per value. Since relationships are value-based, two values that are identical for the first 109 characters (including spaces) will be related. Edited January 18, 2011 by comment
