Repeating Field Blues

Can someone help me on a FMP web problem I've been having? I need to input

data into an existing file with a repeating field using a form. Each time the

"Submit" button is pressed, the old/existing data is replaced with the new data,

OR a new record is created (depending on whether I use -edit, or -new) when I

just want to add new data into the repeating field of the existing file.

Is there a way to do this? ANY help would be appreciated.

I've got an answer... but you're not going to like it.

Get rid of the repeating fields and use related fields in a portal instead.

Repeating fields were introduced very early-on in FM's life to get a similar sort of functionality to relational databases, before FM really was relational. They were clunky then and haven't inproved with age. Repeating fields are only still in FMP 5 for backwards compatibility.

Changing over to a portal might not be that much work, but the benefits are great.
