Zoom tool distorts text scale in 4.0

We are creating a label with 7-point type. It's too small to edit on screen, so we use the zoom tool to increase the viewing area to 150%. The problem is when we shrink back down to 100%, the type breaks differently. We are thus forced to edit at 100%, which is barely visible. Filemaker's tech library notes the problem but has no solution. Does anyone know of a workaround or solution?

Many thanks,

Try zooming to 200%, it seems to work better for me.

Thank you so much for your reply -- indeed, the zoom tool seems to work more accurately at 200%. I was about to call FileMaker's $3-a-minute tech help, so you saved us a good piece of change.

Cheers!

David

In general, avoid the 150% zoom level, it has a LOT of problems. It layout mode it has the nasty habit of turing 9 point fonts into 8 point fonts. This bug has existed across multiple versions. The basic problem with 150% views is "What is 1.5 times 1 pixel?", your choices are 1 and 2! Thus many objects cannot logically be rendered accurately at 150%, by definition.

As a general design practice, I would avoid using zoom levels other than 100% at all, except in layout mode. If you need a larger view of a layout, just build it to be larger (large fonts, lines, etc.).

Just my 2 cents worth.
