Answers Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 We have Filemaker Server 9 running in the office, the workstations connect to the hosted databases through the LAN. All pcs in the office. In the past when someone wanted to access the database remotely they used GotoMyPC. Now one of the owners recently purchsed an iPad, and also purchased Filemaker Go. They would like to access the database from anywhere through filemaker go. I know I have to open port 5003 and forward ports to the server, but what else do I need to do to configure the server to be accessible on the WAN? Turn on instant web publishing? Thanks in advance.
bcooney Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Have you tested FMGo with your file? You mention FMS9. This version of FMS is not supported for use with FMGo. There are many unsupported script steps and issues to be concerned about...especially dropped connections while a script is running which'll result in damage to data. KB 7734 As far as remote access using FMGo, it's the same as FM Client and has nothing to do with IWP. Just use Add Host in the File Browser dialog in FMGo.

KB 7734 No to answers your question I have not tested FMGo with it as of yet. Basically the person who is using it just wants to look up records to get contact information, nothing fancy. I might be upgrading their server version anyway. As far as remote access using FMGo, it's the same as FM Client and has nothing to do with IWP. Just use Add Host in the File Browser dialog in FMGo. Yes thank you, I already added host for her to access in the office. What I mean is for when she is outside the office.
bcooney Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 You need to enter the WAN IP address of the FMS.
Rich S Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 You need to enter the WAN IP address of the FMS. Just to complicate things, what if the IP is dynamically assigned?
