Forms on a website

I think this is a really basic question, so I hope there's a simple answer.

I'm running a small (100) record database on Filemaker 4.1 over the web. I've set it up, and it works okay.

However, when someone accesses the search field, once they've typed in their search, they can't just hit return to start the search; they have to click on the 'search' button.

Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong?

The relevant page is linked from http://www.hastings.ac.uk:7776/courses/

Thanks in advance.

John

IE will allow a 'Return' to submit a form, whereas Navigator will not. Someone may have found a way to do this with Navigator using Javascript!

All the best.

Garry,

thanks for the reply - unfortunately the error occurs in IE. When I try to submit a seach by hitting return, I get "There was an error searching the "webcourses.fp3" database. [# ERR: 4] " - if I click on start search, I don't.

Thanks Keith. I'll add this to the FAQ forum because it comes up regularly.

Thank you so much - that's exactly the answer.

Many thanks
