NBEA Intern Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 This might be more of a script issue than a layout question, but I'll ask anyways. I was wondering if there is a way to format my text in a field to automatically space out on the "tabs" of the layout? I am trying to make a list with multiple columns and I don't know how long the input will be, so just putting in spaces could look correct for some input but bad for others. (i.e. In java I would use the tab escape character \t to line up the tabs) Is this possible to implement in FileMaker? Thanks.
Vaughan Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 Paragraph formatting "belongs" to the field object (or text object) that displays the text on the layout.
voltron2112 Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Ya use ctl +tab Or shift +tab. Never can remember which, it'll look like it put in a couple of spaces. The real magic come from the inspector where you add tab stops and how far apart they need to be. So for example you want to show title, first name then last name. You might have a 15px tab stop a 40px tab stop and an 80px tab stop so that the columns are bigger for the names and shorter for the title. 1
