Count of unique values in a subsummary line

I need to make a report with a count of how many unique companies are in each summary field. Here is a simple example. Any ideas as to how I can get FM to do this?

Sales Product 1 Number of Companies: 2

  • company a person 2
  • company b person 3

Sales Product 2 Number of Companies: 1



  • company a person 1
  • company a person 4

What exactly is "• company a person 1"? Is it a sub-summary part? If yes, what is its breakfield?

its a list of sales to a person that is in a company, I sold product one to three people in two different companies. and product two to two people in one company. the break field is the product ID and I want the count of unique company ID's.
