lyalem Posted May 9, 2001 Posted May 9, 2001 I'm trying to do address labels. The first (line) field is a company name, the second (line) field is first and last name side by side, the third (line) field is street, etc. My problem is that some of the records do not have a first or last name, so there is a big space on my labels between the company name and the street address. In the past I have gone to layout mode-format-sliding/printing-slide up, but it doesn't seem to be working this time. Perhaps I am selecting the wrong field(s) when I choose this option. I would appreciate any advice as to what I am doing incorrectly. Thanks!

One way would be to put the person's name as the first line, this way even if they do not have a name, there is no space and no need for any fancy formatting. Another way is to create a single calculated field to put everything together. The final way would be to recreate you label layout, if the sliding continues to not work. I have found that I often have something in a layout that prevents it from working. Simply starting a new layout is the easy solution.
