xtrim Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 Hi, I have opened my FP7 file, which I created on a windows machine, on a Mac. The problem is that about third of the graphix looks not as on the Win machine. For example, many of the PNG's I used look brighter and text boxes are higher... A sample pic is attached... The problem is that It happened on all the layouts and it will take me a long time to fix it. My question: is there a way to avoid this? or quick fix this problem? and why is it happening?
comment Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 text boxes are higher It's best to use fonts that are known to render (almost) the same on both platforms, e.g. Verdana. many of the PNG's I used look brighter That's not necessarily a platform issue.
xtrim Posted June 14, 2011 Author Posted June 14, 2011 It's best to use fonts that are known to render (almost) the same on both platforms, e.g. Verdana. Where can I find a list of fonts that are known to render the same? I thought "arial" is uni-platform... That's not necessarily a platform issue. So what could be the problem?
comment Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 See this old thread - unfortunately, not much has changed since then: http://fmforums.com/forum/topic/38032-mac-win-layout-differences-why/ So what could be the problem? Monitor settings on either system. Is the difference limited to images, or does it affect Filemaker's native objects as well?
xtrim Posted June 14, 2011 Author Posted June 14, 2011 also native object look different (for example the width of the line)
comment Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 also native object look different (for example the width of the line) I was talking about the differences in brightness. There shouldn't be any differences in the width of native lines - although naturally, if the other system's monitor is using a different resolution, everything will be larger or smaller.
