June 20, 201114 yr I tried the following: Copied the Supercontainer folder to the server folder (D:/Filemaker/Filemaker Server) Got the message: "Can not find filemaker server web publishing engine..." I tried to install it manually. Got the installation path : (D:/Program Files/FileMaker/FileMaker Server/Web Publishing/publishing-engine/cwpe-tomcat/bin/) Copied the Super container folder to the bin folder modified the tomcar conf file: Opened D:/Program File/FileMaker/FileMaker Server/Admin/admin-helper/WEB-INF/conf/ added the lines to the file /SuperContainer/*=cwpe /SuperContainer=cwpe re-started the pc. However, when I open the supercontainer example.fp7 I get this message: The SuperContainer Companion plugin is not installed, you will not be able to access the sections of this file which demonstrate plugin usage. Drag the SuperContainer plugin to your Filemaker Extensions Folder, quit Filemaker, and restart. If you are running with the Web Publishing Engine/IWP, drag the extension to the FileMaker Server/Web Publishing/publishing-engine/wpc/Plugins folder. I'm using Win 2008 R2 server and FMP 11 Advc. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
June 20, 201114 yr The error you're getting accurately describes your problem and how to fix it. You have installed supercontainer server, but not the companion plugin. You don't need to install the companion plugin unless you want to use the features of the companion plugin. Our example file uses some of these featues, and so requests that you install the companion plugin so that you can see these features in action in our example. If you want to use the companion plugin you will need to copy it to your filemaker extensions directory, as it says in your error.
June 20, 201114 yr Author Yes, I did that as well - and it is enabled. But I still get the same error.
June 20, 201114 yr The companion plugin is installed and enabled in your FileMaker Pro (your local machine, not your server) and it shows up in the FileMaker Preferences > plugins tab but you're still getting that error?
June 20, 201114 yr Author I installed the companion plugin on the server and then enabled it. It is also enabled on my local machine. What I want is to access the super container example (hosted in the server) from my local machine. Do I need to modify the url specified in the supercontainer example?
June 20, 201114 yr You need to modify the URL in the example file to point to your SuperContainer server. The defualt URL is localhost, which is your local machine. Your server is probably not on your local machine, so you should change this to the IP address of your SC Server. You do not need to install the plugin on your server unless you plan on using the plugin with a server scheduled script or with web publishing, which you need the enterprise license for. For the most part you only need to install SuperContainer Server on your FileMaker Server The error your getting is that the companion plugin is not installed, which doesn't have anything to do with the URL of your supercontainer server. It sounds like you do not have the plugin installed in your .../filemaker Pro 11/extensions directory on the computer you are sitting in front of. If you have it in this directory, it is showing up in your extensions list, is enabled, and you are still getting this message please give me a call.
June 21, 201114 yr Author We got it to work. Does this mean that if we want all the users in the district to use the SC in IWP, they all need to have the plugin installed on their computers? or if we buy enterprise license, does that eliminate that need. Thanks
June 22, 201114 yr If you have the enterprise license you can use SuperContainer with IWP. You do not need to install anything on any client for any user to use SuperContainer. The only thing you MIGHT install would be the SuperContainer Companion plugin. The "error" you were getting wasn't an actual error, just an alert telling you that the demo file uses the SuperContainer Companion plugin for some scripts, and you won't be able to use the plugin features without having the plugin installed. If you want to use the plugin in IWP you will need to install the plugin in the WPC/Plugins directory on your server, since the WPE is the "client". Again, you don't need to install anything on a client to use SuperContainer (other than java). The companion plugin is always optional, and is only used if you write a script that uses one of the companion plugin functions.
