Hi All

Our server booted everyone out again today and stopped the server entirely of its own accord...

I went into the logs and found the following error from the time of the crash;

Error 24

Registration to directory service failed [53]

Bit of searching online indicates that [53] corresponds to an LDAP error code which means the following;

Indicates that the LDAP server cannot process the request because of server-defined restrictions. This error is returned for the following reasons: The add entry request violates the server's structure rules...OR...The modify attribute request specifies attributes that users cannot modify...OR...Password restrictions prevent the action...OR...Connection restrictions prevent the action

We recently switched our network over to a different provider so I don't know if that has anything at all to do with it...

Our IT guy did look in the directory logs and there's nothing there to indicate there are any issues... This is an intermittent issue as it only started happening on Friday but has happened again today. As our company runs its whole business through FileMaker we really can't afford any downtime during work hours, especially as our files can take up to an hour or more to open... Is that normal?!?! We do have 123 files totalling a gigantic 15.48Gb so I think it might be normal...

Kind Regards

Your system is in need of a serious review, especially since LDAP is not a part of FileMaker Server's internal working processes.

I recommend you contact one of the FileMaker Business Alliance Platinum Level consultants in the UK for assistance.

This is extremely bad.... someone should investigate why this is happening. This is not FM related.

You mentioned that you switched to a new network provider? What is that about? Is your FMS box not on your local network?
