changing fields of multiple records at once

Featured Replies

hi all,

i'm viewing a bunch of child records in subsummary mode (nice this can finally be done in browse mode, btw).

i'd like to change a field in all records under a subsummary to something else (in my case a flag check box, but i guess that doesn't matter). but how do i trigger a 'replace' function without affecting all other records at the same time?

i can't go by recordID either, because there are other child records with the same ID that don't belong in the current subsummary.

i may be able to hack some sort of looping contraption, but that seems really clunky.

thanks,

stefan

Interesting question. I suppose you don't want to lose your found set in the process, so it's either looping until you get to a record of another group or the last one in the found set, or open a new window, constrain the found set, do Replace Field Contents and close the window.

BTW, marking actual records marks them for all users, and will fail if another user has a record locked - as I am sure you know.

hi and thanks for your help!

indeed the found set should not be disturbed. i have tried looping instead of your second suggestion, simply because i haven't touched constraining the found set yet and therefore felt more 'at home' with the loop option. it wasn't as bad as i thought (actually only 6 lines of script). so... al done!

thanks,

stefan
