Urgent help! 2 Servers on 1 network

We have a FM Server 8.5 running for remote offsite users.

We are adding iPads, with a FM11 Advanced hosting one database, for other users in the field to log in to.

How can we get to the FM11 database when port 5003 is forwarded to the FMS 8.5 machine?

Additional details:

Cannot replace FM8.5 server with FM11 server due to budget constraints. Please help us find a solution to access the additional "server" from outside the network. LDAP directory or something like that?

Thanks in advance for your prompt solutions!

First off, I think there is some confusion here. There is no Product called FIleMaker Server 8.5. There is Server 8, Server 9, Server 10, and Server 11.

It sounds as if you are using a copy of Pro 11 to provide peer to peer access for the iPads. If that is the case, you will need a second external IP address for that machine. Have the firewall forward Port 5003 from that second IP address to the NAT address of the machine running Pro 11.

This is far from an ideal configuration. Please update as soon as you can do so.

Budget constraints?

By the time you've paid for a second IP Address and the money to power up and provision the second machine, you could easily justify the cost of upgrading to FMS 11 and then host all your files on one server.

That's a very good point. Check with your FMI Sales Rep about the cost for a new Server 11.
