HI everyone,

I am thinking of creating a new database which will generate the maintenance schedule automatically based on the frequency per year.Currently,I have 2 tables: 'Machine Information' and 'Maintenance Records' in the same file

On the top will be the machine information(Model and Serial No etc) and the Portal below will display the schedule generated. The fields on the top and those in the portal belong to different tables with the Model and Serial No being the link(common fields).

I have attached a picture of the layout for a clearer description.

Questions

  1. I wish to just create a new record on this 'Machine InformationTable' and it will automatically create a record on the 'Maintenance Records Table' with the Model and Serial No as the link. Any suggestions on how to go about it?I have ticked the creation of records under the 'Edit relationship'(see attached)
  2. I have a script which will automatically calculate and generate the schedule under the Portal Table. But somehow it will not indicate the capture the Model and Serial No from the 'Machine Information' Table as displayed. Any one know of any commands or scripts which can let me read the information shown on another table and display it on the current table

Thank you in advance for any advice!
