I have a layout that I would like to print and have all the 'fill colors' (for fields, backgrounds, etc...) changed to white, and the graphics in the header removed. Does this require making a copy of the layout and removing the colors/graphics then printing from that new layout or is there some other way?

If you can not manage all your needs with the 'Hide When Printing' option. ( You do know of that or ? )

You could try using conditional formatting with

Get ( WindowMode ) = 3 ( printing )

setting all your fields fill color to white. Borders and stuff will still be printed.

If You have other stuff that needs to be blocked out you can use a 'Button' as a simple box object and place all the unwanted graphics behind this.

Buttons are special since they can be conditional formatted as well.

If you have a background color on the entire layout that needs to be blocked, consider using a button that fills the entire layout and color that instead.

This isn't excactly an easy solution, so making a print layout may be easier.

The 'hide when printing' option worked well for the graphics. I'm still playing around with the conditional formatting for the rest of it. Any chance you know where I could find a list of the flags that can be used with functions like the 'get' command? I've found a list of the functions, but the variables that it will recognize are not listed in the manual.

Ok, I got the conditional formula working too using the function you provided. Thank you. The only thing left now is the background. So you're saying to make a button that covers the entire layout and have it layered to the back, then use conditional formatting for the button color instead of the layout's background right?

[EDIT]

just tried it and it worked! Thanks for the idea. Between the 'hide when printing' and button to cover the background, I can remove all the colors/graphics and get a plain black and white form to print. Thanks!

One more question though- Can I remove the footer entirely when it print layout?
