Hi All,

Server:

FMS 11.03, Mac Server 10.6.8

Client:

FMP 11.03, Windows 7 Home Edition

SuperContainers:

2.81 over port 80

Problem:

I have a Client that just installed Windows 7 Home Edition. The user opened their solution and they got a message that the solution will update their SuperContainers Plugin. (I'm using the automated plugin updater with FMS) After the user gets a message that the update was successful, it cause them to restart FMP. The user launches the solution again and they get the same message that they need to update their SuperContainers Plugin. So the user runs in a loop.

Investigation:

1.

I made sure the plugin was downloaded correctly in the dir:

C:\users\user_name\AppData\Local\FileMaker\Extensions\

This was correct. But did not work.

2. Moved the plugin to the FMP extension folder in the FileMaker Dir.

Did not work.

3. Check to see if FileMaker was seeing the plugin. (edit/preferences/plugin tab) It was showing but could not check the box to make it active. I moved the plugin between the two directors, but never having it in both dir at the same time. Still did not work

4. Downloaded the newest plugin from 360works. I Still could not activate the plugin in the plugin tab of FMP.

Thanks for your Help.

Hey Todd,

This is a bit strange...

My suggestion would be to first try and remove SuperContainer all together by clicking "Remove" when launching the Installer.jar file, and then download the latest version (2.832) from our website. After downloading the file, try to redeploy/install SuperContainer using the Installer.jar file. Ensure that you install the latest version of both the Server and the SuperContainer Companion Plugin (which is dropped into the Extensions folder in FileMaker Pro or in the "Auto-Update folder" from FMS) on your machine.

Alternatively, you could use 360Works' Auto-Update utility to ensure you are grabbing the latest version of SuperContainer.

I hope this answers your question. If you have any additional questions or need clarification on this, you can contact me directly at the e-mail address or phone number listed below.

Thanks for the input but, the solution is working fine with supercontainers on ten other computer. Those computers are running OSX 10.6, Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 Professional. This computer is running Windows 7 Home Edition. Not sure if its the computer or supercontainers. I've never had this issue.

Any more info would be helpful.

Hey Todd,

There was an older version of our plugins for which Auto-Update did not work. Try to delete the plug-in from your Extensions folder on the client machine (both in your /FileMaker/Extensions folder and the "Auto-Update" extensions folder). After ensuring that both plugins have been deleted from their respective folders, try running Auto-Update to update the SuperContainer plugin.

Also, you should make sure that all other plugins that have been installed have been upgraded to their latest versions. Often times, wide gaps in plugin versions (ie., an extremely old plugin running and a newly upgraded plugin running) can cause this issue as well. So, double-check that all of the plugins installed on each machine have been upgraded to their latest release.

The latest version of SuperContainer is SuperContainer version 2.832, which addressed the issue with the new Java update.

I hope this helps.

Ok, I did all that. I still does not work. The only plugin is Supercontainers. In the FileMaker Prefs you can see the plugin... but, its grayed out and you can not activate it no matter what folder its in.

Any other ideas? Thank for your input.

Hey Todd,

Assuming you completely deleted all SuperContainer plugins from both the Auto-Update and FileMaker-> Extensions directory, then downloaded the latest version of SuperContainer, placed that file in your Extensions directory, and your solution is still not working on this machine... I suggest we set up a time and date to screen share over this issue.

It would definitely be easier to troubleshoot this problem over a screen sharing session. If you are available any time between 10am - 6pm ET, just give me a call at the office number below and I will be happy to help you resolve this issue.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

It seemed to be a problem with the computer. Is very old. It still did not work even after upgrading to windows 7 professional. I ask the client to do a clean install of the OS and they told me that was not a possibility. Dead Issue. Thanks for the help!
