fed Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 Currently I print encounter sheets with FMP using the Print step. It works great, but we are now going paperless, and want to print PDFs instead. I can select Print to PDF in OSX, but it save using the same filename each time. Is there a way to automate the filename, such as using client name and date?
comment Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 Why don't you use the Save Records As PDF[] script step. Then you can use a variable to specify the file path - see: http://www.filemaker.com/11help/html/create_db.8.32.html#1030283
fed Posted January 11, 2012 Author Posted January 11, 2012 I need a lot of formatting that your suggestion does not allow. Thank you anyhow.
comment Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 I need a lot of formatting that your suggestion does not allow. For example?
fed Posted January 11, 2012 Author Posted January 11, 2012 I need 2 columns, same demographics on all pages at the top, and My ID at the bottom of each page.
comment Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 What makes you think saving records as PDF wouldn't allow 2 columns? I am not sure what you mean by the other two, but it seems like a simple header/footer arrangement, which is also possible.
fed Posted January 11, 2012 Author Posted January 11, 2012 I didn't think your could use header footers, or two columns in Save Record as PDF. I tried and couldn't get it working.
fed Posted January 11, 2012 Author Posted January 11, 2012 I am sorry. I tried again, and it works just fine. The formatting is fine, etc. Thank you very much for that. This will simplify things greatly!
