expanding portals

Hello all

I have been asked to design a table with a list of companies showing the various subscribers underneath

Very easy main table - records by company then a join table to the main contacts database and show the subscribers in a portal

However I have been asked to show the list of companies and then give the user the abilty to expand the record to see the subscribers as they see fit.

As far as I know there is no way to do this although I understand you can re-size objects to take into account different sized windows

Does anyone know a way of doing this or can you at least point me in the right direction

We are still on filemaker 8.5 at the moment

Set your layout up with a short body containing the Company name field. Make the company name field a button that toggles between List view and Form view.

Then add a subsummary part to that layout. Use a sort field you'll never need to sort by, like the primary key field. Then add a portal to that part, showing subscribers.

In List view this will show a list of companies. In Form view, it will show the company selected and the portal of subscribers.
