TriggerCat Posted December 21, 2001 Posted December 21, 2001 I am working on a solution that will require charting some results (to replace an Excel solution). I have been playing with Azium Charts but the documentation that came with the plug-in is not very detailed. I would like to learn more about functions, parameters, usage, etc. Is there any publication or book that is a good primer for using plug-ins? I know each plug-in has it's own unique functions (as the Azium plug-in uses an "external(action, parameter)" format), but not having used any of these plug-ins before, I'm having a difficult time figuring out the CORRECT syntax for the parameters and the best way to implement them. The demo included with the plug-in is great, but the example files do not work and I have found some misprints in the documention. Thanks for your help! ~Randy
SteveB Posted December 21, 2001 Posted December 21, 2001 All plugins behave differently. Go to the Troi website and download his File and/or Dialog plugins. You can test them for 30 days and they are great buys and are easy to use. His documentation and examples work. See www.troi.com
Steven H. Blackwell Posted December 21, 2001 Posted December 21, 2001 All third party plug-ins use the ExternalFunction (action, parameter) call. Where the distinctions and differnces come is in how the parameter string is to be written. For the oAzium stuff, you might just contact Waves in Motion directly http://www.wmotion.com and ask for more information. Troi and New Millennium http://www.troi.com and http://www.newmillennium.com both have working demos on their rspective site. If you will be at MAcWorld the week of janaury 7th both Waves and New Millennium will be exhibiting in the FMI corporate booth. HTH Old Advance Man
TriggerCat Posted December 21, 2001 Author Posted December 21, 2001 Thanks for your quick replys! I took Steve's advise and downloaded Troi's Dialog User Guide. It is excellent. It is much more detailed than Wave's guide. (Don't get me wrong, I think WIM produces very fine tools, Troi just has put together an outstanding User Guide.) I think between all the sources I am finding I should be able to get this plug-in to do what I am wanting. Sidenote: I did email Waves In Motion's support mailbox several days ago, but have not heard a reply. It is close to Christmas, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that they will get back to me. Old Advance Man, I doubt that I'll be able to get to SF for MacWorld, but I am already saving my pennies for the FM DevCon in August. Thanks again, this forum is the best! ~R
