All Right I give ,

I am currently running Filemaker pro clients with Filemaker Server 11

My client links work perfectly on the office network useing the following link

fmp7://00.00.00.00/xxxxxx

I have Created this as a shortcut on the desk top and this automaticly opens the Database into the client, this is very easy for the users to understand

Ive enabled filemaker server on a windows iis7 machine and i can access the machine useing a reguler web address, what i would like to do is eather place a link on the desk top that wehen we are away from the office would open the database into the client just like it does at the office but i cant figure out how to address the url for example

www.xxxxxxx.com/databasename.fp7 , nope dont work

www.xxxxxx.com:fmp7//00.00.00.00/database.fp7 nope dont work

I pourposely do not want to do with PHP or IWP just want to acess the file and have it open into the client when were away from the company network

Im sure this is just a simple syntax issue that i am unable to see

Howdy,

I just successfully tried this, from a Win 7 Home Premium machine running FMPA 11v3, to connect to and open a file on a remote host (commercial FM hosting).

This is what I used for the link:

fmp7://my_hosting_account_URL/filename.fp7

Works like a charm :)

Are you able to Open Remote "manually" from FM outside your office?

http://0.0.0.0:16000 and substitute your IP for the 0's. Ports 167000 and 16001 msut be open.
