alopas Posted October 16, 2001 Posted October 16, 2001 Hi, Is there any way to know, after someone inserted a picture in a container, if it was either inserted as a reference to the file, or just dragged into the container? Thank you in advance
Moon Posted November 19, 2001 Posted November 19, 2001 Funny you should ask. I have been trying to figure out a way to do this, too, but haven't come up with an answer. Here is the workaround, but it is not pretty. Make a copy of the folder with your solution and rename the folder with the graphics that are referenced/placed. Then open the database with the graphics, go to a layout that displays them, and go through the records one by one and note the records that contain a graphic. Those showing one are storing that item in the database. Those without should display a message stating the referenced graphic cannot be found. Make note of the records containing the graphic (or the ones that have a reference, depending on which you want your records to contain) and then change the records in the real file accordingly. Not very cool, and if you are talking thousands of records, not very much fun either, but it works for a few hundred records if you have a half an hour. I hope one of the moderators or a member has a better way. I don't. Moon Mullins Full Moon Consultants
LiveOak Posted November 20, 2001 Posted November 20, 2001 The answer may not help you at this point. The best approach we have found is to use the Troi File plug-in to do the imports under script control. If no manual import is allowed, there is no question as to whether a reference or image has been stored. The Troi plug-in also allow thumbnails to be imported. Importing thumbnails is often the best compromise between file size and speed of redraw. -bd
