Newbies hensleigh Posted March 21, 2012 Newbies Posted March 21, 2012 We are still running Filemaker Server 7 on a Windows server. Over the weekend, something happened to cause the remote host to disappear from the open remote file dialog box. The files are still accessible using Open Recent under the File menu or when using a launch file. Filemaker Server Admin still connects to the server and I can open and close databases without a problem Any help would be greatly appreciated.
David Jondreau Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 All files? Are the Sharing Options set to show in Open Remote? Have you restarted the server?
Newbies hensleigh Posted March 21, 2012 Author Newbies Posted March 21, 2012 Yes on both counts. Sharing is turned on and we have restarted the server. As I said, the files are running and are openable using other means, the main problem seems to be that the server does not show up in the remote host list.
Wim Decorte Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Check the Application and System logs on the Windows server, starting with the weekend. Is the server on the same subnet as the workstations?
David Jondreau Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 How's it being hosted? Was there an update that may have disabled Bonjour or blocked port 5353? This is a handy post: http://sixfriedrice.com/wp/filemaker-firewall/
