April 26, 201213 yr Newbies Hi, We have just upgraded our FileMaker system and currently are using Pro 11 with Pro Server running the show. We can personalise emails sent from FileMaker to our customers using shortcodes. But it only seems to work when we send a small amount of total emails, a dozen or so. When we sent a newsletter to our entire database (7000+) the emails got sent but the personalisation did not work and left us with the emails starting… "Dear ". Has anyone come across this issue? Can anyone think of a work around or easy fix? I'd love to hear any suggestions. --- ps. We are using a plugin called 360Works+Email to allow the emailing system to work. Single plain or html emails can be created from blank or we can use a saved template to send to multiple clients.
April 26, 201213 yr Not sure what you mean by "shortcodes." ISPs often limit the #of emails that can be sent in order to stop spammers. Post the script. I doubt that it is a problem with FileMaker or the plugin. PS: You've registered the plugin, right? Otherwise, it works in demo mode....
April 26, 201213 yr Author Newbies Thanks for your reply. By shortcodes I mean we can type in <<First Name>> and it is replaced with the record information for that data field. Other codes can be used for other data fields. The updates were done by a third party so I don't have any script as such but I'm pretty sure they've typed in a verification code to activate the plugin. I'll check that out though. I am aware ISPs often limit emails, but as far as we are aware all the emails got sent. We have a means of recording the date and subject titles of emails that our clients are sent, do you think this would be an accurate indicator of # of emails sent/received? Do you know the approx email limit of most ISPs?
April 26, 201213 yr OK. You need to talk to the developer. It really sounds as if the plugin isn't registered.
April 27, 201213 yr The number of emails allowed to be sent at one time depends on settings on the SMTP Server which is usually associated with the ISP but not always. Recently my ISP changed its policy on multiple email addresses. I have my own server so I simply decided to activate my own SMTP Server to send mail. So I determine my own settings. Important to note that the ISP must release certain ports for this to work (port 25 for example).
