tomp Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 Just converted my FM11 files to FM12 using the trial version of FM Pro 12. I have 'hidden' portals on many screens. Up through FM11 I was able to hide the scroll bars through line transparency, but they all show on the converted FM12 layouts. It looks like I'm going to have to go through all my layouts (hundreds of them) and hide all the scroll bars again. Don't know yet, but will I have the same problem with fill on fields and other objects where I had used the transparency option in FM11 (this would be especially painful for updating conditional formatting)? Am I missing something?

Am I missing something? Portals or fields? Why did you rely on "line transparency"? Why not just deselect the scroll bar option in the portal setup?
tomp Posted April 28, 2012 Author Posted April 28, 2012 I may set the portal up for 2 or 3 entries, but there might be an unpredictable number of related items. I may loop through the related items in a script. Without the scroll bar, wouldn't I reach the 'exit after last' condition before processing all the related items in a loop? I think I need the vertical scroll bar.
HALBURN Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Hey tomp, I have good news for you. I had the exact same problem and I found a solution that is even better than how I was hiding portals in FM11. In FM12 you can set the width of the portal scroll bar to be zero pixels wide. Unfortunately FileMaker does not let you control this within the app yet but you can easily modify all of the the portal's parameters by either editing the theme's CSS file or you can use a program such as Clip Manager 4 to edit these parameters via the clipboard. Or perhaps even easier...you can download my sample file and just copy the portal style from the portal that I have already modified and apply it to your own. One very nice feature of FM12 is that you no longer have to click on the portal to give the mousewheel focus. Simply hoovering over the portals give it focus (both on Mac and Windows). 1
