Creating a set of criterias to generate a letter - any ideas?

Featured Replies

Hi All.

I am in the process of figuring out a way to create letters based on a series of questions. Let's say I'm creating a "Court" related letter. The data entry user have to go through a list of questions like "Does the client have a witness?" , "Was there an officer present at the time of event?", etc... which will possibly lead to more follow up questions based on his/her answers. The output (finding) will/should be based on the answers and will be generated on a court letter template in MS Word. Is this something we can easily achieve in Filemaker? Is there an alternate suggestion/solution?

Thank you,

Dave

Dave,

This is almost a "survey" where you have a stock list of questions and expected results - the results could be simple such as a text block providing for an answer - or they could be more complex in the sense they may require a check box / radio box / multiple selection / strict format type such as date / number or even if needed a Likert scale.

in either event each value response is a record in a table allowing you to then format and print the letter - or export as PDF

Here is a way to generate letters in FMP, and accommodate multiple pages... http://fmforums.com/forum/files/file/5-multipage-letter/

Here is a project i did a while ago:

here is the backend http://screencast.com/t/pi2okT3x

As far as getting it formatted in word - that may take a plugin. or generating XML / XSLT.
