display contents of PDF file in a container field

Featured Replies

I created a pdf file via the 'save records as pdf' script step and now want to display the contents in a container field.

What do I do?

On the Mac, I use 'Insert Picture' script step and see the contents.

On Windows I've tried 'Insert Object' but just get a reference.

What's the Windows equivalent? How do I display the contents of a pdf file?

With FMP 11 and earlier use the Insert File command, but note that the pdf will NOT display in the container. It will show the file name. To display the pdf you'll need to export the pdf then show the contents in a web viewer.

FMP 12 has a new container option that allows pdfs to be displayed.

Good to hear. Thanks!

Although I'm working in 11 now, it's 12 that I need this for.

I have been working on this as well, and the insert PDF command works for me, on mac anyway. On windows, the exact same command with the same file, gives me an error - a blank dialog box and a beep. Nothing else happens. Any ideas here?
