Import TXT file with quotes being stripped

Featured Replies

Hello

I have a fixed width text file I am importing into one field and then parsing, but the text file has " in it and they are being stripped out when I import.

So since the " are stripped out, the fixed width is no longer fixed width and can vary since it is losing character spaces. Is there a way to import and keep the quotes so I can keep my fixed width?

Thanks

Nina

Can you post an example of the source file?

I can't reproduce your issue:

Your file works fine. I tried to open the text file directly in filemaker 11 advance to make a new file... quotes stripped.

Did the same thin in FMP 12 Advance, quotes are still there.

I guess I'll convert my files and try again.

Thanks

Nina

I tried to open the text file directly in filemaker 11 advance to make a new file... quotes stripped.

That's weird, because when I do the same thing, I still get the same result as before:

Once I converted the file, it still didnt work in the converted file, same table same field, but it worked in the converted file in a new table. Now it seems to work in the original table.

Excuse me while I go scream. I'll run some more tests.
