tomp Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 can a field be set up with a check box in Find mode? Doesn't seem to work.
eos Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 You mean: will a field formatted as checkbox work the same way in Find mode as in Browse mode? It certainly will. Make sure Field entry in Find Mode is allowed.
comment Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 Doesn't seem to work. A more detailed description would be useful. Depending on how your value list is defined, it may contain no values in Find mode.
tomp Posted June 7, 2012 Author Posted June 7, 2012 i'm using a global field, have it setup for 'Field Entry: Find Mode', and the value set has 3 custom values. I don't use the global to 'find' - obviously that won't work - but I want to parse the checked items in the global to set other fields for the 'find'. Apparently it's because it's a global that I can't 'check' any values. I've linked the table to be searched to another one record table. Using one of the fields in the one record table I'm able to accomplish what I want to do.

I must apologize for my rash, unthinking reply to your original post; it does in fact not work with a global, regardless of using a custom value list or one from another file. You can edit the global in Find mode if the field is formatted as Edit Box; after reformatting, the checkbox selection reflects the edits, but clicking has no effect. Is this logical?
Vaughan Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 Global fields don't "work" in find mode because ALL the records have the same value in the global field, so the find would apply to all the records.
comment Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 You can edit the global in Find mode if the field is formatted as Edit Box; No, you can't - at least not in version 11.
