Hey guys,

Appologies if this is the wrong forum.

I am both new to this site as well as FileMaker. After doing research as well as speaking with people I am thinking that FM is the way that I am looking to push the company I work for to go.

I am looking currently for the best literature to read to go over basic FM theory and ease my way into the thick of it. I realistically wont start building anything for 6 months or so - so Im looking to take that time to learn.

I found the FileMaker 10 Bible (as well as ealier versions) - but it does not look like theres anything for 12. Would this be relevant enough to apply to version 12? Are there better books out there, specifically for 12?

My plan is likely to read the book, and then depending on my comfort level either invest in the FM product at that time, or spend more time watching training videos online before purchasing.

Any advice/tips/help for someone looking to learn the product is appreciated

Thanks

Travis

Edit: Oh I should mention that the local JC does not offer any FileMaker courses, but I do beleive they offer Access courses. Would it be worth taking those or would it just confuse me further? After speaking with people with knowledge of both programs they all highly recommended

Well 12 is still really new and yes there are a bunch of new features of it, but the older books should still teach you a lot of the features and once you have the basics, you can easily move onto 12.

Please update you profile to show your FileMaker, OS, and Platform version. Here is a quick link. http://fmforums.com/...rea=profileinfo

Travis. 12 is so new, there ARE books, but many of them are only available for pre-orders. You can go to the FMI site and download ALL the documentation. Those are a good start. Skim through it all for overview. Then come back to the forum for specific answers. The books will be here... :yep:
