Fill in an Excel spreadsheet

Hi,

I have a filemaker database, and I would like to be able to generate a button that would not create an excel spreadsheet just with the values of the open record, but that would use values in the fields of my database to fill in an Excel spreadsheet which has a pre-designed layout...in other words adressing the values of my database into specific cells of a pre-exisiting spreadsheet...is that possible ?

Thank you for your help

Did you ever find a solution?

I have a customer supplied Excel spreadsheet that I need to populate with data from FileMaker 12. The spreadsheet is fairly complex, with multiple pages and links. Can I target where I want my FileMaker data to import?

I'd love to be able to do this too.... The field names are not what I actually want to appear, plus there is a list of codes for the recipient of the spreadsheet to refer to which I'd like to keep.

Of course it is possible.  It requires deep integration between FM and Excel, depending on the platform using the Excel AppleScript Dictionary or the Windows ActiveX objects.  It's been done and demonstrated before at various FileMaker Developer Conferences.  There is a fair amount of complexity that depends on the platforms you want to support (Windows, Mac) and the number of Office versions you want to support (2003, 2007, 2010, ....)
