I have a portal that sorts by timestamp... in descending order; once the enduser commits the record the new portal record moves up tothe top of the list to become the first portal row. I to to create a trigger to populate a field [Deactivate] boolean, with "1" on any portal rows other than row #1. Any suggestions on how I might accomplish this?

What would be the purpose of having such field? It holds no information that isn't already known.

Sometimes they'll want to search on actives only, other times they'll want to compare both categories.

After giving this more thought--I see what you mean. It's unnecessary afterall. Thanks for helping me think this through... mp
