February 6, 200223 yr Newbies We have a been serving databases without problem on Win2K work station for months and will locate that machine at a remote location. New machine for this location is WinXP-Home Edition work station and it is mostly working, but it has crashed 2x's this AM. Once during an ODBC import from AS/400 system and once when imports were not running, but users were starting their day. Is anyone else having problems with XP as the server?

February 11, 200223 yr Either Professional Edition, W2K or WXP, will work. FWIW, FMP 5.5 is certified for W2K, but not for XP. it will run on XP though, but there have been a few reports of some issues. HTH Old Advance Man

It'll make your life soooooooooo much easier. I finally got rid of my last Windows machine and the air is fresher, the sun brighter, the day warmer...
February 12, 200223 yr Do not use an iMac as a server for FM Server in a business critical situation because of the drives. If you could swap out the IDE drive for an UW SCSI, it would be OK. Also, FWIW, there are some issues with Server 5.5 on OS X. Be sure to know what you are doing before you start down that road. Old Advance Man
