Newbies needhamleonards Posted February 11, 2002 Newbies Posted February 11, 2002 I'm new to web publishing, am trying to test my first application using trial version of FM 5.5 with CDML and localhost on a PC. I can make changes in my HTML editor (CoffeeCup) and bounce back and forth to browser (usually netscape but same happens with I.E.) but there comes a point when I enter http://localhost in the address box and it just sit there with the status message "resolving host localhost". The browser continues to run SLOW until I shut down FileMaker. Restarting the machine doesn't resolve the problem. Thanks.
Kurt Knippel Posted February 11, 2002 Posted February 11, 2002 While you may have other performance issues, this sounds like a classic problem of running both a client and a server on the same computer. This is typically a slow way to do things. If you can run the server on another machine in your office, performance should pickup to normal levels.
Anatoli Posted February 11, 2002 Posted February 11, 2002 Do try to enter IP instead of localhost. And/or name of the machine.
