Hi there... obviously missing something here so I wonder if anyone can help....

Have a container filed.

Have it set up for interactive content.

It's a thumbnail size so I need a way of opening the pdf as its too small to view with the size of the container field I have.

How do I open the pdf?

I use openurl and open it in the web browser.

You can use the webviewer aswell, I find people are more used to their web browser.

This is a v 12 feature.

This isn't helping haha!

How do I open the PDF in adobe reader without the web viewer?

How do I "get" the path and filename of the PDF if its unknown to me (its on the server)

I had to do this where I've done some contract work, because of 'controlled' documents, albeit with MS Access and with documents on the local filesystem.

See http://partners.adobe.com/public/developer/en/acrobat/PDFOpenParameters.pdf for Acrobat command line switches.

Unfortunately, you cannot directly load a remote URL. So instead, use curl, ScriptMaster, etc to download the PDF to a temporary folder, then open that file. Also note you can just send event in FM and enter, e.g.

C:UsersFrankDownloadsPDFOpenParameters.pdf

to open the PDF, once saved on the local hard drive.
