No password for old work database login

Featured Replies

Hello All,

I was just informed my predecessor at work created a huge and hugely important database that would help me out a lot if I could access. Unfortunately, he quit and was the only one that had access to the database, since it was his personal project at work. It's hosted on a shared server and our server administrators can't access the file either. I looked at old posts on here with similar threads and none of the ideas posted worked (e.g. id:Admin, pw:blank). Does anyone have any ideas for how to get back into this file? There are four or five files like this I'd like to access and I've seen FM password recover programs available, but am wary to download and try without feedback/review first. Thanks for your help!

Ben

Hi Ben,

Has anybody asked this guy for the information? His employee status really shouldn't matter if he developed these files in the course of this daily activities.

Unless he developed them under some kind of agreement oral or written, ownership belongs to the company.

When in doubt, contact an attorney.

BTW, we just had a discussion about file crackers in the last couple of weeks.

Lee

Yea the discussion about crackers went like this.... They might help get the login/password but their is a high probability that they will permanently damage the file as a result. Definitely advice to heed.
