ron G Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 I am running FM 12 v 1  There is a table: Patient There is a table: Doctor     PKDoctorID, DoctorLastName etc... There is a table: Procedures PKProcedureID, FKDoctorID, ProcedureName etc...  On the Patient layout there is the Procedures portal.   The procedures portal has FKDoctorID.  Here is my question: "When the FKDoctorID is defined as a popup, the DoctorLastName shows. When it is defined as a DropDown, I see the PKDoctorID ---- Why the difference?) Â
David Nelson Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 I will try Ron. Really what you are asking is why the fruit cherry is red and the fruit banana is yellow suggesting that since they both are fruit they should be same color. They have different purpose and function. But i understand what you mean about it not displaying the name and it should and I have read complaints before about why it doesn't. But that is the nature of drop down. I just use pop up. It is easier than messing with extra fields and stacking. I use drop down only when it is straight text I am entering and I want to type in the field also. HTH 1
ron G Posted November 15, 2012 Author Posted November 15, 2012 The dropdown allows me to specify 'show from 2nd field only'... but it persists in showing from the first field.... Perplexing, inconsistent behavior... What's the work around to get a dropdown to show the content from the 2nd field?
Ocean West Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 You should update to 12v3 Stack fields make the first one not enterable and display the related data (adding a relationship ) the filed below is the Id
ron G Posted November 15, 2012 Author Posted November 15, 2012 OK. But v3 has a huge bug that when it executes a script that opens a window and goes to a layout... it crashes FM. Same with v 2. For me, only v1 is useable.
