I have a portal sorted by a field 'Vendor Name'

 

This field is text, but sometimes contains numbers, eg: Vendor 1.

 

When I sort by this field in my portal all vendors that contain a number appear at the top of the portal, instead of under the appropriate letter. Is there a way to fix this?

It sounds like that Vendor Name field is specified as data type of number instead of text.

It's a calculation field coming from the Vendors table. However, the calculation result is set to Text.

Then we need to see the zipped file. :-)
