Running on Windows 7 with 6 to 10 clients accessing the database from a Windows Server 2008 r2. Clients are running FMP 12 v2 ( I had some issues when I tried the v3 update so have not implimented it )

Ever since we upgraded to FM 12 we have experienced some strange behavior. Several times a day everyone in the office is experiencing a lockup where filemaker shows "Not Responding" and we get the spinning blue circle ( still trying to detirmine if everyone is locking at the same time or not ). It eventually comes out of it but of course the delays are unacceptable. I'm trying to narrow down the cause. So my first question is this. I know the hour glass means a process on the client is running, a coffee cup means the server is busy. But what can I tell from the spinning blue circle. Is that a client issue or a server issue?

Maybe someone is doing a search on a unindexed field or FM is reindexing the field. I am seeing this a lot with a solution where I decided not to update indexes to FM12. Now, when searches one of those fields : prepare to wait....
