"... you mean these fans?" Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Hi, I have a stupid problem that's been annoying me for some time now. Basically, I have an "On StartUp" script that I trigger when the user open the datafile "OnFirstWindowOpen". And the "On Start Up" script puts the user on a specific layout THAT I NEED to have priority. The only problem, Filemaker for some reason, opens with my largest layout width for a split second. Long enough to make the database look unprofessional, instead of looking to the script and holding the layout view until it's called. Now I've pushed the layout to the Top of the Layout Manage window, I've opt in on the Layout in the On Start Up File Option in Filemaker where it says "Switch to layout" ... I don't want to switch to anything, I want my "ON START UP" to be in control when the datafile opens and the layout I specify length and width FIRST, not what FILEMAKER defaults to if I'm going to guess what is happen, then the script runs. What is happening I sure would like to know. I want my NAVIGATIONAL layout to take precedence NO MATTER WHAT FILEMAKER WANTS TO DO. So how do I do that ??
bcooney Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 afaik, FM opens to the last closed window/size when in single user. So, write a Close script that switches to the layout you'd like to use On Open.
"... you mean these fans?" Posted December 28, 2012 Author Posted December 28, 2012 I navigate my user to the navigational layout where all action take place with buttons and they have to "Quit" by clicking on the button. This is the same layout I need my user to open in. But for some reason Filemaker ignores this layout???
KaosMaker Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 What bcooney was saying is that Filemaker remembers the last layout opened by a *single user*. If this is a shared or served file, what you need to do is stop sharing/take it off the server, open the source file directly, go to the layout you want it to open to, and close it. Then, reupload it to the server, or share it again.
"... you mean these fans?" Posted December 28, 2012 Author Posted December 28, 2012 It is not a shared file. There is only one user, with the file a his lap top. Hmm ...
