normanicus Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 There seems to be a strong rumour that Google is about to make a move for the desktop with it's Chrome OS. Whether or not this is imminent it seems inevitable. Android is already the dominant OS. Here: http://www.zdnet.com/2012s-top-five-linux-stories-with-one-big-conclusion-7000009190/ it is reported that Android already has 45% of the consumer market. Apple, Google, and Microsoft seem to be locked into a battle for dominance and it appears that Windows 8 may be about to seal Microsoft's fate. So, if this happens, when will Filemaker respond and look to satisfy that market with a versions of its products? When I posed a similar question regarding ARM based Windows 8 the idea that Filemaker would be restrained by its owner, Apple, was rejected. Would that be the case with Chrome OS?
Rick Whitelaw Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Wait a minute. Android has 0% of the desktop/laptop OS market share. Regardless of popularity on mobile devices, Android / Chrome has a Long steep climb before making a dent in the desktop market. I think your question is, um, premature.
