Hello

Regarding both IMPORT and EXPORT

After again, reading the function.desc.

I am trying to pass a variable filename using   $parameterFilename   to import and export process  to specific clients of this application

Seem I can only get it to work,  being specific what the filename is called

Trying to figure a way, to deal with many agents sending me data files..  and it be nice if I can assign them a specific filename

then importing/ exporting back to them their own specific filenamed as well

And Secondly,

I have figured, if or how to rename a   File.fp7 once i got it out?

TIA  Rod

Using dynamic names for importing and exporting works, through using variables just like you describe.  So it's not the mechanism but probably how you set the variable.  Can you post that part of your script?

For the second quesiton; can you define "once I got it out"?  Are you exporting to "file.fp7" and then want to rename it?

I created a var $filename

The in the dialog box setting up either import/export  , where you pick the path it searches..

.  i put the   /path/&filename       sort of trying to explain. . tried the import and nothing worked?/

Scheme,

I have a app where I am going to import export found records from different  outside sales agents    returning their data backn forth

maybe you have a cutn paste image so i see what you mean..

Thanks for you reply

The variable needs to have the full path and the standard prefix plus the file name.  So only the variable name can go in the dialog box.

The variable would be something like:

file:/c:/someFolder/someFile.fp7

Lights bulb went on;;   THKS

$var =   file:/c:/someFolder/someFile.fp7

I was doing....

file:/c:/folder/ $var
