ron G Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 I am running 12. 03 Advanced on Mac and Windows On my Mac, I created a custom menu which has, as it's last option under File... the menu item "CLose Application". When I save the app to a flashdrive and then open it on my WIndows 7 computer there, under File... is 'Close Application" AND under it EXIT. Question: "Where did this EXIT command come from? It is not part of my Custom Menu set. And, "Is there some way to get rid of it?" "Is it part of Windows?" Thanks Perplexed Ron
hbrendel Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 See http://www.filemaker.com/12help/html/fmpa_custom.23.8.html#1028579 , the notes section nearly at the end. In your case install the menu option 'Close Application' only for the Mac platform. On the Mac the Quit command will be in the Application menu (Cmd-Q)
ron G Posted January 28, 2013 Author Posted January 28, 2013 I guess I was not clear.  On the Mac, the FILE menu is as follows:   On Windows there is a 'GHOST' addition that says EXIT.  Question: "Where did the EXIT come from?  Is it a FM WINDOWS 'requirement'???  Â
hbrendel Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Just read the content of the help section I gave you in the link.
ron G Posted January 29, 2013 Author Posted January 29, 2013 That help section does not seem to address the Windows only phenomena...
hbrendel Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 In Windows, the menu item name for Close and the shortcut, Ctrl+F4, cannot be modified in the Windows System Menu of the document window. The Close behavior will change if the action for the Close Menu item is altered in the Edit Custom Menu dialog box. Copied and pasted from the same help page
ron G Posted January 30, 2013 Author Posted January 30, 2013 I was looking for the word EXIT ... not close.... (SInce my WIndows Custom Menu produces the submenu 'Exit')
LaRetta Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Hi Ron, I do not see a way to remove the Exit. It does not appear when you create a custom menu but it appears when you apply it. It appears at the bottom in whatever menu you place as the first menu.
ron G Posted January 31, 2013 Author Posted January 31, 2013 I guess it is a "Windows" thing... Is it a 'feature' or a 'bug'?
hbrendel Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 It's there on purpose. Windows demands it for every application.
