I have two file of FileMaker 12. One is data file and another is the interface file.

I want to keep data file in FileMaker Server and Interface files into our executive iPad or Desktop, for data entry.

 

Please let me know, How can  I connect my Interface file with my Data file which is in server.

Is there any way, to achieve this task. Please give yours valuable thoughts.

In the interface file, open File > Manage > External Data Sources. There will be an entry for your data file in the list of external data sources. Open it. Each data source can include multiple files paths. Make sure at least one of them looks like this:

 

fmnet:/<your server address>/<your data file name>

 

If you would like the interface file to look for a local copy, too, make sure one of the reference paths looks like this:

 

file:<your data file name>

 

FileMaker will attempt to connect to a file at each path in the order they are listed until it makes a successful connection.

"fmnet:/<your server address>/<your data file name>"

if possible, replace the address with the server name which is a bit safer if you change boxes.
