Hello

daily number.fmp12.zipI have included a small database with only 10 records of quotations. I would like the user to only see one record each day and ONLY one each day. I would like to know if there is a way to only allow the user to view one and only one unique record each day.  I would like them in this case only see a quotation once a day and not be able to go to other quotes. I would like filemaker to keep track of the quotes they have viewed and not be able to access them after the day they were able to view them the first time.

I need help to do this.

I have uploaded a file called daily number to show and example of 10 records .

Once the see the quote on any given day, they must only be able to see a new quote not to return to the one they already saw.

This should allow only that certain random record to be viewed but only that record on any given day. They should only see a record based on the record in the number field, randomly located only once a day not to repeat. The actual file I am trying to make would have over 5000 records. But I only want the to be able to see one unique record, each day and not be able to repeat that record.

i.e. the user opens the file and it goes to record with the number 4 found in the number field randomly . They can view that record for 24 hours only but the next day FM calc could randomly find record 9 and probe another field to see that number 4 was already taken.

Thanks for help here

Sorry for the big post let me break it down so it is easier...

How to I calculate to allow the user  to return to a record only once?

The list would have to either narrow down or another field could keep track.

How do you identify a user? If by log in name - then you could use a relationship which uses ≠ get (username).

Have a single record table which has a single field global: get ( username) and show a single record portal of the quotes-

On logging out append the user name to the match field. The match field would end up being a list of all visitors.

It gets a bit more complex if you wish to hold it for 24 hours but I think could be done with a shut down script and testing against date and name fields before inserting into the match field.

You would need to strictly control how the window/file was closed down.
