Max file size woes

Can anyone tell me if Filemaker's auto recover function actually reduces file size? as one of our corporate databases has reached the 2Gb limit imposed in v4.13

If not, does anyone know of a way to access the data it contains as at the moment I can't access it and the backup I have is a rather old vintage.

The recover command does not reduce file size. However, the "Save a copy as..." and "Compressed Copy" will reduce file size.

Usually the Recover do decrease file size, but only by some bytes, which where (probably) allocated to the problematic part. I guess it will be less than 1k.

As LiveOak said, the "Save a copy as..." and "Compressed Copy" will reduce file size.

Couldn't you split the database by better, related design?
