Pedro Posted July 4, 2001 Posted July 4, 2001 Hello Folks, In my database the primary key is a calculation field that is a fusion of 3 other fields. Because it's the primary key it must be unique, how can i solve it? Thanks.
LiveOak Posted July 5, 2001 Posted July 5, 2001 Sounds like hitting a screw with a hammer, but here goes. You can enter all three field entries into global field and have a "Enter" button. This button will run a script to find any exact match of the concatenation of the three fields and return an error to the user if a match is found. If no match is found, the script would copy the global field to the real fields. -bd
LiveOak Posted July 5, 2001 Posted July 5, 2001 My best response is don't use this calculation as a key. Sounds like you have a logical problem with how your are setting things up if three selections are made by the user BUT the key still has to be unique. -bd
Pedro Posted July 5, 2001 Author Posted July 5, 2001 But , here in my company the users are working with it for a long time and I think if I modify the way that they are working it will make them confused. I need to make this field unique.......... help me please.... Thanks
